- As I read the story about Isaac Asimov, who has written 403
- books (PROFILE, Dec. 19), I was reminded of one American whose
- output exceeds that of Asimov. Cotton Mather, the foremost
- intellectual leader of New England in his day, wrote more than
- 450 books.

- I find that Asimov has reversed two of the major premises
- of New Age thinking. Rather than being a "throwback" to the
- past, New Age thought is the evolution of man's awareness and
- connection with the universal system. Far from living "in
- terror," New Age writers stress self-responsibility, which
- serves to reduce the anxiety of powerlessness.
